Werkseitig, d. h. serienmäßig verbaute Luftfahrwerke – oder neudeutsch Airride – sind zumeist in Fahrzeugen der Premium-Klasse vorzufinden. Sie bieten die Möglichkeit, das Fahrzeug stufenlos in der Höhe zu verstellen, ohne „Hand anzulegen“, komfortabel aus dem Interieur über den Bordcomputer.
Die Firma BBM Motorsport im münsternahen Senden präsentiert neuerdings eine umfassende Palette sogenannter Airmatic-Kits aus eigener Herstellung, mit denen sich diverse Fahrzeuge mit serienmäßigem Luftfahrwerk um bis zu 60 mm tieferlegen lassen, ohne dabei auf Komfort verzichten zu müssen. Die Entwicklung hat vor fünf Jahren begonnen und wurde über diesen Zeitraum hinweg permanent perfektioniert. Nicht zuletzt durch den BBM Bachelor of Engineering, der sich mit dem Thema lang und ausgiebig beschäftigt hat und nun als TÜV-Prüfer arbeitet.
Für folgende Fahrzeuge sind die BBM-Kits derzeit verfügbar:
- Audi: A6 4F und 4G, A7 und A8 D3/4E und D4/4H sowie Q7
- Mercedes-Benz: C-Klasse W205, CL-Klasse W215 und W216, CLS-Klasse W218 und W129, E-Klasse W211 und W212, ML-Klasse W164, R-Klasse W251, S-Klasse W220 und W221 sowie SL-Klasse W230
- Porsche: Cayenne und Panamera
- Volkswagen: Touareg und Phaeton
- Tesla: S Modelle
Die Montage der Kits kann in jeder Fachwerkstatt durchgeführt werden und gestaltet sich recht einfach. Jedem Exemplar legt BBM Motorsport eine fahrzeugspezifische Montageanleitung mit Bildern bei. Online gibt es sogar eine Montageanleitung in Videoformat auf YouTube:

Selbstverständlich bleiben nach dem Einbau der Airmatic-Kits die Funktionen des Luftfahrwerkes in vollem Umfange erhalten, man kann das Fahrzeug also nach wie vor anheben und absenken.

Ex factory, which means serially installed pneumatic chassis – or otherwise called air ride suspensions – are mostly installed in premium class vehicles. They offer the possibility for stepless chassis clearance adjusting without “lending a hand”, conveniently from the interior via car computer.
Recently, the BBM Motorsport company at Senden near the German city of Muenster presents a rich scope of so called airmatic kits of own manufacturing, allowing the lowering of several cars with serial hydro-pneumatic suspension by up to 60 mm, without loss of comfort. The design works have started five years ago and have been perfected all the time, last not least by their own BBM Bachelor of Engineering, who was extensively and for a long time occupied by this theme and who works now as TÜV examiner.
Actually, BBM-kits are available for the following vehicle types:
- Audi: A6 4F and 4G, A7 and A8 D3/4E and D4/4H and also Q7
- Mercedes-Benz: C-class W205, CL-class W215 and W216, CLS-class W218 and W129, E-class W211 and W212, ML-class W164, R-class W251, S-class W220 and W221 and SL-class W230

Certaily, the chassis characteristics stay the same in full range after the installation of the airmatic kit, the car can be lowered and lifted up in the same manner as before.
