PORSCHE 935 DPIII von DP MOTORSPORT – WIE GEMACHT FÜR FLORIDA
Seit mittlerweile 45 Jahren ist die Firma dp motorsport in Overath mit Firmengründer Ekkehard und Sohn Patrick ZIMMERMANN samt Team quasi weltweit bekannt für unnachahmliche Metamorphosen von Porsche-Modellen auf dem Weg zu Traumautos. Letztere haben ihren Namen ausnahmslos verdient.
Als Basisauto muss diesmal ein Porsche 965 Turbo in Schwarz mit 3,3 Litern Hubraum aus dem Jahre 1992 „herhalten“. Zur Historie des Fahrzeugs ist zu sagen, dass es bis 1997 sein Dasein als unberührtes Serienauto in Deutschland fristete. Im selben Jahr erfolgte – beauftragt vom zweiten Besitzer – bei dp motorsport der Umbau zum 935-dpIII-Rennwagen Replika mit Straßenzulassung in Polarsilber. Es sollte auch der Einzige dieser Art bleiben!
Schon seit Mitte der 1980er-Jahre wurden im deutschen Motorsport dp935er erfolgreich eingesetzt. Für die stärkste Ausbaustufe wurden die IMSA-Motoren des 962er extra bei Porsche bestellt und in die Rennwagen eingepflanzt. Es folgten diverse Gesamtsiege und Meisterschaften mit ZIMMERMANNs Turbo-Überfliegern. Ab 1995 folgte die dritte Karosserie-Ausbaustufe auf Basis des Porsche 965. Nur fünf dieser Fahrzeuge wurden gebaut und waren im deutschen Motorsport überaus erfolgreich, besonders mit den Fahrer-Gebrüdern Jürgen und Uwe ALZEN.
Und genau in diesem polarsilbernen Farbton mit Colorstreifen baute dp motorsport das Straßenauto auf der Basis des 965 auf. Dafür wurden die Karosserieteile aus hochwertigem GFK mit diversen Verstärkungen aus Carbonfaser hergestellt. Der Motor wurde auf ca. 450 PS (= 330 kW) leistungsgesteigert. Neben einem Gewindefahrwerk von H&R wurden auch noch Uniball Domlager sowie eine verstellbare Domstrebe aus Aluminium installiert. Die adäquate Rad-Reifen-Kombination besteht aus dreiteiligen RH-Alufelgen im Cup-Look in 9×18 mit Bereifung in 245/40-18 an der VA bzw. in 12,5×18 mit 335/30-18 an der HA.
Auch das Interieur kam bei dp motorsport nicht ungeschoren davon. Dort wurde Leder in Classic-grau mit schwarz kombiniert verarbeitet. Ein Airbag-Sportlenkrad und dazu noch ein Clubsport-Überrollbügel unterstreichen die sportlichen Ambitionen von Auto und Fahrer, der – bei Bedarf nebst Beifahrer – in 935-Lollipop-Sitzen, ebenfalls in Classic-grau mit schwarz kombiniert, Platz nimmt.
Bevor der 935 dpIII dann Anfang 2018 an einen Sportwagenhändler in Miami (Florida/USA) ging, hatte das dp motorsport-Team übrigens noch eine neu angefertigte Edelstahl-
Auspuffanlage verbaut.
Dieses Auto ist ein wahres Design-Meisterwerk des dp-Gründers Ekkehard ZIMMERMANN.

PORSCHE 935 DPIII by DP MOTORSPORT – TAILOR-MADE FOR FLORIDA
For 45 years by now, dp motorsport in Overath with the company founder Ekkehard and son Patrick ZIMMERMANN as well as their team is, so to say, renowned worldwide for their inimitable metamorphoses of Porsche models en route to dream cars. Latter mentioned deserve their name without exception.
This time a 1992 Porsche 965 turbo in black with a 3,3 liter engine “serves” as base vehicle.
As far as the history of the car is concerned, until 1997 it existed as an untouched standard production car in Germany. In the same year – commissioned by the second owner – dp motorsport started the conversion into a polar silver 935-dpIII race car replica with road approval. It should remain the only one of its kind!
As early as the mid 1980s, the dp935 cars were successfully used in the German motorsport scene. In order to apply the most powerful expansion level, the IMSA-engines of the Porsche 962 series were ordered at Porsche separately and implanted into the race cars. This was followed by diverse overall victories and championships with the ZIMMERMANNs turbo-high-achievers. As of 1995 the third stage of the car body expansion based on a Porsche 965 joined the team. Only five of these vehicles were built and operated in the German motorsport extremely successful, particularly with the driver-brothers Jürgen and Uwe ALZEN.
And exactly in this polar silver shade with color stripes, dp motorsport built up the vehicle for public roads on base of the 965. For that purpose the body parts were made of high-grade fibre glass with diverse carbon fiber reinforcements. The engine got an upgrade to approximately 450 PS (= 330 kW). Beside a adjustable sport-suspension by H&R and an Uniball strut bearing, an adjustable strut brace were installed as well. The adequate wheel-tire-combination consists of three-piece RH aluminum rims in cup-design in 9×18 with tires in 245/40-18 on the front axle and in 12,5×18 with 335/30-18 on the rear axle.
Also the interior could not escape dp motorsport scot-free. Fine leather in classic gray combined with black were processed. An airbag sport type steering wheel and a clubsport roll-over bar emphasize the sporty ambitions of automobile and driver, who – if required along together with a co-driver – takes a seat in dp935 lollipop-seats, also in classic gray combined with black.
Prior to the delivery of the 935-dpIII in early 2018 to a sports car dealer in Miami (Florida/USA), the dp motorsport team incidentally installed a newly manufactured stainless steel exhaust system.
This automobile is a true design-masterpiece of the dp-founder Ekkehard ZIMMERMANN.
